Week 4 Assignment, Part 3: Evaluation Planning for Action Plan

As indicated from the data collected in our week three assignment by using the campus and district improvement plans as well as the local and state technology plans, this Action Plan shows that the need for Educator Preparation and Development is needed at our district. For this reason training and support will be implemented at all campuses for the benefit of all of the teachers and staff. In this way they can better understand the tools that our district is offering and implement them into the curriculum which best fits the needs of the students. The district will therefore provide ongoing support and availability of technical support as well to all staff and teachers. Opportunities to be trained will occur throughout the year in order to assure that all of the proper uses are being practiced in the classroom.

Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning

Our district prides itself in technology since it is a magnet district and some schools specialize in technology. The school board and administration makes sure that our students are in the forefront of technology and that the courses offered in this area are also innovative and cutting edge.
v  Board of Trustees:
The board of trustees has the final say on how school funds are
spent and therefore has a significant impact on the technology
integration.  South Texas I.S.D. is fortunate to have an extremely supportive board that is willing to put students first above anything else. Every decision that is made is for the benefit of the students and therefore makes every effort to improve the campus’ technology.

v  Superintendent:
The superintendent has a very good working relationship with the trustees and is able to communicate the needs of the district to them. This communication is also true for her collaboration with the principals and Technology Director. Together, they make sure to offer guidance for state and federal mandates, including the integration of the Technology Application TEKS.  The superintendent also recommends purchases and expenditures for software maintenance and other monetary matters to the school board.

February 2012 - Web Conference

February 2012
WEB CONFERENCE
On various occasions I have tried to log on to the posted web conferences as indicated on our announcements and have not been able to.  For whatever reason, I have been unsuccessful and have not had the opportunity to experience the interaction with my peers. However, I have been able to observe and gain insight in that manner.  For example, assignments are discussed in detail and any questions pertaining to them are dealt with. Also, students asked questions regarding TK20 and the Action Research. In addition some questions were answered regarding graduation and LCE certification as well as the information regarding the web- site https://sites.google.com/site/luedlead/ . It was mentioned that beneficial videos could be found on this site as well as other needed material for potential Lamar graduates. I am hoping to be able to log into next weeks’ web conference.

Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support

According to the Federal and State laws, they mandate that the state of Texas report the progress of technology in our schools. In order to evaluate a campus’ progress, The Texas Campus STaR Chart measures such progress towards goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology. In addition, it is used for planning, budgeting for resources, and evaluations.
The STaR chart showed that our campus’ greatest strength was Leadership, Administration, & Instructional Support. I do agree with this assessment because our entire district has outstanding leadership and administration. Our district has been named in numerous magazines as top performing district and had many articles written about it. This is due to the leadership ability of our superintendent. The district mission and vision are clear to everyone at our South Texas I.S.D. family.
