My opinion on Action Research

Without even thinking about it, we all use action research in our every day lives. We don't want outsiders solving problems that we can deal with ourselves. For example, we live in a subdivision that has a home owners association. Sometimes it seems that there are many rules to follow, but it is much better than having the city leaders tell us how to deal with our little community.
If there is a problem we try to figure it out, research within our group and this way it benefits our neighbors. The same is true in education. With action research, principals, administrators, students, or staff  are much better suited to deal with their own community issues than outside leaders. The insiders know exactly what is going on and can best address it. Action research thus speaks for itself, it allows you to take action as opposed to sitting back and watching someone else do your work for you. Therefore, I have learned that this approach to research is necessary for much needed change. We know that at first some may be hesitant towards it, but change is essential for moving forward and necessary to learning and growing.
